So for my birthday this year, I decided I wanted to go somewhere warm, with a beach and a loooooot to see. I didn't have to think too long before coming up with Barcelona which is super easy to reach from my home airport of Nuremberg too! We headed out on Friday 13th of April (like the fearless people that we are haha!) and stayed for 6 nights which is a good amount of time to get the bulk of sightseeing in!

I've been wanting to do another poetry post for the longest time! I quite liked how this one on Bayreuth had turned out so I thought it would be a great idea to pick a poem on London that I love and share with you the photos I took on my recent visit. These have not been taken on the bestest of cameras, neither are they incredibly artistically shot but nevertheless they capture my love of London pretty well. The poem is called 'Composed Upon Westminster Bridge' by William Wordsworth.

So
last weekend me and my bestie went on a little weekend getaway to
Dresden. We wanted to see more of Germany and visit places neither of us
have seen before, as it's always so easy to book that plane ticket to
far off cities and beautiful beaches but it's so easy to forget about
all the beauty that your home country has to offer. And boy, there's
lots of gorgeous German cities worth exploring. For me I knew that
Dresden was top of my list of places to see and my friend readily agreed
so off we went.

If you are (or were - no hard feelings ;) ) a somewhat regular reader of this little blog of mine you might have noticed that I kind of fell off the end of the world blogging wise this year. I thought long and hard about whether I wanted to write this post, explaining my reasons and for a long time I thought "nah.. I'm not even sure myself.. I guess I kinda just fell out of love with it a bit", but I realised that's not all it, far from it. And sometimes it just feels good to write it all down and therefore be able to make sense of it yourself. At least that's how I feel about it.

Hello and welcome to the last part of my Ireland Diaries. I know it took me quite a while to get them all up but what with all the recent life changes blogging just didn't come that easy. Anyways, I'm here to tell you about my last couple of days on the island.

Number one on my list of places to visit in Ireland was the Cliffs of Moher. I wanted to go there for the longest time so I was really really excited to finally get the chance and hop on a bus on Thursday to drive up to County Clare and see them "in the flesh". It also meant I had quite an early start on Thursday with my friend going back to work that day and me catching the bus at Patrick's Quay.

On Tuesday, right after our usual breakfast of porridge and tea, we started our day with a walk down to the sea in Clonakilty. We climbed over rocks and enjoyed the sun being out to warm our faces. There were sea gulls crying, tiny waves rolling to shore and fishermen fishing - I wish I could start every day like that.. After our long walk we had more tea and some relaxation before packing our bags and getting into the car to head east along the coast to Kinsale.

So over the Easter break I spent a lovely week in Ireland, visiting my friend Audrey. I had never been to Ireland before but had planned to visit for the longest time so naturally I came with a long list of places I wanted to see. I had the best time travelling around West Cork and up the West Coast, looking at cliffs and marvelling at the beauty of the Irish coastline, looking at tiny fishing villages and colourful artsy houses all the time accompanied by the best native tour guide a girl could wish for!

I recently visited Rothenburg ob der Tauber, a beautifully medieval town nestled between Nuremberg and Würzburg, right on the old Romantic Road and it's like stepping into a past century. So, so pretty! Rothenburg is also home of the world famous Christmas Village, a shop full of Christmas decorations, ornaments and bake ware, open all year round - the Grinch's worst nightmare :). I'll be back in December for sure! If you're ever in the area, stop and have a wander through this gorgeous town! You can walk all the way around the old town on the still intact city wall and take in the beauty of all the colourful half-timbered houses from above. There's such a variety of pretty little shops to stop and marvel at and more than one deliciously Italian ice cream parlour! The whole city is filled with al fresco dining spots which gives it the flair of Rome in summer! I told you, you should visit!

So last week I went on a little family vacay to the very south of Germany, where Bavaria meets Austria and spent two amazingly relaxing and beautiful days in the Bavarian Alps. The landscape there is simply breathtaking, as was the view from our cosy little apartment in Bad Reichenhall. This little get-away was exactly what I needed to switch off and just enjoy nature. I love being out in nature, going for little hikes or bike rides and doing all of that in this stunning environment was absolutely worth the nerve-racking drive there - we're talking absolute stand-still traffic for hoooouuuurs! The air smells of fresh grass and herbs and flowers and all sorts of greenery and sitting out on the balcony reading my book in the mornings before starting another active day was pure perfection! The weather gods were clearly on our side as well as we had the most gorgeous sunny summer weather throughout our stay.

Today I wanted to share some of the highlights of my recent trip to London with you! I had a blast even though the weather wasn't really on our side (it was cloudy and grey with the occasional apocalyptic rainfall thrown in for good measure, throughout our time there). I've stayed for five days in mid June, did some shopping, some picnic-ing, some cinema-ing and obviously theatre-ing and it was so exactly what I needed to get out of my writing-an-application-while-being-sure-I'll-never-hear-back-from-them-anyway-funk!

"The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page"
I love travelling! I love going to see new places, meet new people, make new friends and explore different cultures all at the same time. To use yet another quote, travel truly is the only thing you buy that makes you richer. I have done my fair share of moving abroads and getting on planes in the last couple of years but there's still so much out there that I haven't seen but am dying to get to know! For example have I only ever been overseas once, when I went to Chicago in 2013 to visit my friend. Clearly there's room for more haha. While I would love to go to New Zealand, Australia, Thailand, South Africa and so on I want to keep this list a bit more real. It's places I always wanted to see and am considering to visit THIS YEAR (sadly the state of my bank account is very anti-overseas holiday...). So here's a list of places that I'm potentially gonna visit this year :-)

I love to sit in silence
Beneath the shady trees
And listen to the song of birds
And to the buzz of bees

If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter you might already know that I spent the long October weekend in Italy with my family. We stayed in a cute little town in the Dolomites on the shores of Lake Garda and went exploring Italy from there. Three days and loads of pizza, pasta and gelato! I thought I'd share with you a few holiday snaps today.

As you might know from previous posts if you're a loyal reader of this blog, I have been to London recently. The city I like to call my second home and hopefully future home as well! I fell in love with London when I moved there in 2009 and stayed for one and a half years, working as an au-pair for a lovely family in South West London.

So on Saturday it's finally time for me to go to London again for a little holiday with my best friend and I couldn't be more excited! I've been planning what we're gonna do and where we're gonna go for weeks now so it seems almost surreal that we're finally actually going! However much I love travelling and spending time abroad I really could do without the packing part of it. I'm always planning this far ahead so I won't forget anything but especially round this time of the year it's a bit of nightmare as you just don't really know what the weather is gonna throw at you and a careful warm-cold-clothing-balance must be found. However what I really enjoy doing is packing my hand luggage. As my friend and I will share a big suitcase, my hand luggage really only consists of a nice handbag with all my travel essentials thrown in there. So let's get started, here's what I'll take on the plane with me:

So this week I decided to take a little trip down to Munich because I haven't been for ages even though I quite like it there. We did a lot of walking downtown and through the English Garden as well as along the river Isar and I took quite a few snaps on this sunny day.
