My nail polish obsession - Essie Collection

Sunday, March 23, 2014

I have a serious issue when it comes to nail polishes - I just have to buy them! There are probably at least two polishes in the same sort of shade already, but it doesn't seem to stop me from buying even more.

My absolute favourite brand of nail polishes at the moment (and it has been for some years now) is ESSIE. I just find them so super easy to apply and rather long lasting as well! They don't seem to chip that easily which is a big plus for people like me who have a tendency to ruin their nail polish within the first, say 4 hours of wearing it.

So here's my ESSIE nail polish collection.

The reds:

These are 'Bordeaux' (left) and 'Wicked' (right). Wicked is my absolute favourite shade of all of my nail polishes! It's a very dark red with a hint of brown in it and it's my go to nail polish for nights out! Bordeaux is your classic burgundy deep classy red and the second Essie polish I bought.

Current Spring faves:

I own these two candy coloured polishes because I find them perfect for spring/summer. 'Tart Deco' (right) I bought because it was the exact same shade of a new pair of shoes I bought and so obviously I had no choice but to take it home with me (does anybody else buy nail polishes to go with their shoes??). 'Bikini So Teeny' (middle) is a light pastelly blue shade perfect for the warmer days! And my newest addition to the collection is 'Blanc' (left) which is a rich white colour that is easy to apply and comes on opaque without you having to put on coat after coat of it.

Surprise and Disappointment:

When I bought 'In Stitches' (right) I wasn't sure it would suit me, I was afraid of it being rather girly pink on my nails (something I really don't look for in a nail polish) but I fell in love with it as soon as I put it on for the first time! It's a gorgeous "dirty" pink that works for everyday use as well as for when you dress up!
'Cocktail Bling' (left) on the other hand I was a bit disappointed in. When I bought it, I expected it to be a nice light grey, but that was not at all what it looked like on! It looks rather blue-ish and is way darker than I thought it would be! Not a bad colour but just not what I wanted to get for my nails.

The darks:

'Midnight Cami' (left) was the first Essie polish I ever bought and it's beautiful! It's a deep, shimmering blue that "changes" its colour in the light. Sometimes it looks completely black, sometimes it's really really blue - I love it!
'Licorice' is a nice black that definitely beats the black polish from Rimmel which I've been using before.

The barely there ones:

'Good to go' (left) is the best top coat I've ever come across and makes my nail polish last super long! Mademoiselle (right) is a rather sheer colour that gives your nails just a hint of pink while it still looks like you got almost nothing on. Perfect for girls who can't wear bright nail polishes to work.

The glittery ones:

'Set in Stone' (right) I bought last year as I thought it would look good on top of 'Bordeaux' and would make a perfect Christmas eve polish. It also really got me into glittery polishes which is why I recently also picked up 'Jazzy Jubilant', a top coat of glitter particles in different colours that literally jazzes up any nail polish you might wear.

So that's my collection of essie nail polishes. Do you have the same shades? What do you think about them? Do you find them as lovely as I do? Let me know in the comments below! x
