July Favourites | 2016

And here we go again: Favourites Time!! I'm not gonna annoy you again with my 'Where did this month go' panic (but I mean really.. where?) but just so you know.. it's only 149 days til Christmas! Anyways, with July came the heat wave and with it a few favourites that nobody can do without in this humid weather. I might have also found my holy grail skin care product, fell in love with a book, was obsessed with a TV show and other things. So here's what I've been lovin' this month:

La Roche-Posay Serozinc

You might have seen this spray before being either loved or loathed on other blogs and YouTube channels but I for one absolutely adore it! I picked it up on my recent trip to London because I have wanted to try this for the longest time but wasn't able to find it anywhere in Germany! Fellow Germans, have you got any idea how I could get hold of it over here?!. It's basically a zinc sulfate solution that helps battle oily and blemish-prone skin - so it's practically made for me! You spray it on much like some thermal water spray before you moisturise, to tone your skin. It is said to mattify and make your skin look less greasy and shiny immediately, which I can't really say it does. What it does though is help clear up my skin. Since I've been using this, I have suffered a lot less from blemishes! My skin looks clearer and more even toned and that means a lot to me! This product really made a difference to my skin so I NEED to find out where I can stock up on it when I run out of this bottle.

The Versions of Us

My book of the month most definitely was The Versions of Us! It's a great read, that really gets you thinking! But I wrote a whole post on it already so I will stop going on about it and instead link you to my review of it here. Go check it out :)

Mini Magoo's Granola

When I last went to Borough Market there was one stall that I just couldn't walk past. Mini Magoo's cereal in the outside bit of the market sells all sorts of delicious breakfast cereals. I tried my way through everything they had on offer and after much deliberation decided on the roasted granola. It is the best granola I have ever sprinkled over my breakfast! I especially love having it with some Greek yoghurt or coconut yoghurt and fresh fruit - I can hear my stomach rumble just from writing about it. If you ever find yourself strolling through Borough Market head to Mini Magoo's and try their granola (all of them ;-) )

My Zara Sandals

These sandals were love at first sight! You know the big Zara on Oxford Street, close to Soho Square? Yep the mega busy one! I decided to have a look at what their summer sale had to offer last time I was in London and boy, I'm not sure if there were more clothes or more people in that shop. It was crazy busy! Ok I admit it was a nice afternoon, on a Sunday, during summer sales.. so really it was to be expected right? Still I went in and couldn't find anything! The things I did in the end find I would have had to queue for hours to try on. So I was already rather frustrated and only wanted to get out of that shop when I saw these gorgeous sandals in the sale for only 20 pounds!! I tried them on, they were comfortable and looked just as pretty on as I had hoped, so clearly I had to get them. BEST PURCHASE! I have been wearing them almost every single day this month and they're the perfect pair of shoes for this gorgeous weather.

The Night Manager

I know I'm rather late to the party on this one but I recently saw that the show was on Amazon Prime and I've heard so many British bloggers and Youtubers say how great it was that I simply had to check it out. Oh My Gawd! It is good! I was hooked from the very first episode which is always a good sign. Unpredictable things happened, you never knew what would be going on next and you definitely til the end didn't know weather this was gonna end well or not. I loved all the characters, the actors are ah-mazing and it's just all round really really well done! I'm kind of into this whole espionage thing.. secret services and undercover agents, I don't even care who's spying on who just as long as it's gripping and the story makes sense. This one ticked all the boxes! If you've got Amazon Prime I urge you to watch it, it's too good to miss.

Urban Decay all nighter Makeup Setting Spray

Absolute life saver in this heat! It helps keep my makeup on that little bit longer. Without it it would probably have melted off my face before I even got to leave the house. So it does what it says, it sets my makeup and makes it last. I simply spray it on after I applied my makeup then go on to frantically wave my hands in front of my face to make it dry and voilà, you're ready to go. What I don't like about it all that much is that it doesn't exactly mattify my skin, it gives it a subtle glow which is really nice at first but a bit problematic with my oily skin type. Nevertheless I still really like it and that glow is nothing a bit of lose powder can't fix.

Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Minimizer

And another makeup saviour for the hot weather. I find this really helps me to not only get a smoother and more even finish with my foundation but also for said foundation to last a lot longer. You only need the tiniest bit of this and while it definitely feels weird at first when you start putting it on your face, you won't notice it's there once you've applied it. Do you use a primer? And if so which one? I'm relatively new to the whole priming thing so would love to hear your recommendations.

And that's all I've been loving the past month. What were your July Favourites? Leave me a comment and let me know :)

Lots of Love,
Jess xx
