My June in Retrospect | 2016
Sunday, July 03, 2016How is it July already?!? Like really?! Half of the year is already gone and I still feel like it was Christmas only yesterday! It's literally crazy! I've been looking forward to June for the entire year, actually even since about October 2015, eagerly anticipating Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, my visit to London and meeting old friends. Now it's practically passed in the blink of an eye! Nevertheless it was an amazing month for many reasons...
We can finally say summer has arrived! The weather was mostly lovely this month, apart from some heavy rain fall, which led to floods in other parts of my country but luckily didn't affect me or my family and friends all that much. There were several days of 30+ degrees and I was lucky enough to be able to spend some of them lying in the sun in our garden. I love it when I'm able to cycle to work without fear of getting drenched on my way home haha! I was out cycling lots this month, trying to run as many errands by bike as I possibly could and it's all so much easier now I have my lovely new bike by my side :)
I went to London! You have probably gathered as much by now.. But as always I absolutely loved it! Mostly because this trip was the whole reason I've been looking forward to June so much! It was finally time for me to go and see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at the Palace Theatre in London!!! AND OH MY GOD IT WAS GOOD! It was even better than I expected it to be and that is saying a lot because my expectations were hiiiiiigh! I've loved all the books and the movies they made out of them so when after all these years I heard that there would be a new story, an eighth part I literally went crazy! I couldn't believe my luck when I got tickets to a preview screening for the 18th of June - but you can read all about the CRAZY story on how I got them in this post here. I had really good seats in the front row of the Grand Circle with perfect views of the stage and everything going on and I still can't quite find the words to say how much I loved it (which is also the reason why my promised post about it hasn't gone up yet - it's hard to convey all my excitement in words, without giving anything away). Just this much: if you can, go see it! It's worth every penny!
I love it when I get to meet up with good friends I haven't seen in a while and get the chance to catch up over some drinks and good food! I was lucky enough to meet two good friends of mine when I visited London, we had a good old chinwag and updated each other on everything that's been going on for the past couple of months. I love moments like these. They make you realise how many amazing people you have in your life even though they might not be close physically they are always there to rely on. So whenever I feel down or a bit disappointed about life I just think about all these amazing people and it instantly lifts my mood a lot.
I also kind of enjoyed the EURO 2016 so far. I'm the kind of person who's reluctant to miss a single match of my team when it's the Euros or the World Cup yet manages to absolutely never watch football besides these occasions. Obviously I'm supporting Germany as my country's team but if there is one team that I would like to see win this thing apart from Germany, it's Iceland! They're a great team from a tiny island, nobody expected much of them and still they went and gotten further than many teams from so called 'football nations'. I like stories like that haha. Also the team is kinda nice to look at not gonna lie... haha!
At times in this month I've also felt completely overwhelmed with life! At first, job hunting was getting me down, then I kinda went off track fitness wise and beat myself up about that, which led to even more frustrations and consequently to eating rubbish and not sticking to my healthy diet, which in turn frustrated me even more and well you get the gist: vicious circle! I'm not gonna lie to you and say "But than I just started afresh and everything is back to perfect now" because it's not but I managed to pick myself up, not least because of said trip to London and meeting those friends I've talked about, I tried to stay more positive about the job hunt, decided that I won't let it bring me down any longer and slowly started running again. I've sat down and got back to blogging which I also let slack a little and I just feel a whole lot better already. There's still times where I'm less sure of myself but I think we all battle with these times every once in a while. All in all, it's as they say: Everything will be alright in the end, if it's not alright, it's not the end!
So I have quite a few posts lined up in my blogging diary for the next four weeks and I hope you will like what I came up with! It's a mixture of food, lifestyle and beauty as well as a couple of fashion posts that I'm gonna shoot for you next week! So stay tuned for all of that and rest assured that this blog will see a lot more content in July than it did last month haha! If there's any posts you would like to see me do or have any questions then please don't hesitate to leave me a comment down below or even drop me a mail :)
Lots of Love,
Jess xx
