REVIEW: Nivea Clear-Up Strips

Wednesday, September 17, 2014

Hello lovelies! It's time for another review on this little blog. I mentioned getting the Nivea Clear-Up Strips in a Haul post back in August (you can check that out here) and my lovely reader Yingster asked for a little review on them. So after giving them a good testing I can now tell you what I thought about them.

First of all I have to say that I got them because my skin was breaking out horribly at the time and I was desperate to get it back to normal. Nivea claims that these strips help clear blackheads and blemishes so you will be left with clean and glowing skin. The strips work with fruit acid which is well known for helping clear your skin and one pack of Nivea Clear-Up Strips comes with 4 patches for your nose and 4 that can be used either on the chin or the forehead.

After you cleansed your skin, you apply the strip on wet skin and leave to work it's magic for 10-15 minutes. The patch will cling to the skin and not fall off. After that time you are supposed to peel it off carefully starting at the edges pulling towards the centre of the strip. Now this is where it gets ugly! The peeling off of the strip was really really painful! Nivea says that if the strip adheres too strongly you should just wet it thoroughly and it will come off easily. Now it certainly didn't do that when I tried that because it literally took me a minute to get the thing off and I felt like I was actually ripping off my skin! I'm not usually wimpy about these things and I can handle pain rather well but I think a beauty product should not bring tears of pain to your eyes!

That being said I actually found they worked alright! They didn't magically clear my skin of course but they especially helped reducing the size of my break outs and with a little help from my trusty tea tree oil I actually managed to get my skin back to normal in the end. Also I have to say that the strips on the chin and forehead hurt the most, the ones for the nose were quite bearable after I splashed them with water like a crazy person.

So all in all I have to say I would not repurchase them simply because they are so hard to take off and because they weren't doing all I was hoping for. I think clay masks, peelings and tea tree oil would have worked just as well, probably better and without any pain involved!

I hope you found this review helpful. Have you tried the Nivea Clear-Up strips before? What's your verdict? Let me know in the comments below.

Love
Jess x

    1. Haha I think that is the safer option by far! I heard good things about the Origins Charcoal Mask and want to give it a go too. Do you have any skin care recommendations? :)
