Chocolate Easter Nests
Saturday, April 04, 2015Easter clearly is a reason to cheat a little on the healthy eating front. There's just too many yummy chocolatey recipes out there! So for our Easter weekend treat I decided to make some chocolate Easter nests. Usually I would use cornflakes to make them but this year I thought why not switch things up a little and use shredded wheat instead? It was a good decision let me tell you ;-)
So here's what you'll need to make these cuties:
200g milk chocolate
100g shredded wheat
and a few mini eggs
Making these is as simple as it's gonna get in life. You melt the chocolate in a bowl placed over simmering water. At the same time get your Shreddies in a bowl and get your hands in there to crunch them all up. Now you don't want to pulverise them so just a little bit of crunching til you have smaller chunks does the trick. When your chocolate is melted chunk-free you pour it over your crunched up Shreddies and mix it all up with a spoon until everything is evenly coated with chocolate. Spoon your mixture in cupcake cases and place your chocolate eggs on top to make it a nest. I find that it works best if you keep your cupcake cases in a cupcake tray so they will stay in shape when you add the warm mixture.
Et voilà: super cute chocolate Easter nests that are the perfect treat for everyone with a sweet tooth! They are quick to make with everyday ingredients you probably have in your cupboards anyway so get making them ;-) Let me know if you make them for your family this Easter and how you liked them!
Love,
